This morning I'll be going into the hospital for more blood tests. This time it will be to check to make sure that my blood can still clot fast enough to prevent me from losing too much blood should I get a cut or otherwise get injured. I imagine that they will also try to access the port again today to see if it has opened up.
If Dr. Oken is in today and the test results are back from the other blood tests he will likely talk to me about that as well.
I sure have some questions for him.

My blood is still too thick. I was told that it needs to be between 2.5 and 3.0 and it is at 1.1 so the doctor has increased the Coumadin to 7.5 mg. I still have to continue with the shots of Heperin for this weekend.
ReplyDeleteOne of the genetic blood tests came back negative. We are still waiting for the results of the other two. I personally do not think that there is a problem. I think it is just my body trying to protect itself from an object that should not be in it, the port- a- cath. If the doctors would take it out I think my body would go back to normal. I know that I can demand that they remove it but I am not sure that is the wisest choice either considering that I am not done with the chemo drugs and they are wicked. That Vincristine raises havoc with the skin and tissues if it escapes outside the vein. I do not even want to think about what it does to the rest of the body.
